Following its rollout for the Galaxy Note 4 in Europe yesterday, Samsung has today started distributing this month's security update to the unlocked variant of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge located in the United States.
As noted in the official changelog, this upgrade is primarily aimed at addressing an issue that results in malware being installed on a handset if the SideSync application is activated before completing the Setup Wizard.
In typical OTA fashion, this release is being distributed in stages. To see if it's ready for your device, simply follow the four steps listed below:
- Head into Settings.
- Select About Device.
- Tap on the heading entitled Software Update.
- Hit the Download Updates Manually button.
Alternatively, you can wait until you receive a push notification prompting you to install the update. However, it's worth noting that you will only receive this alert if you have at least 50% of battery on your handset or it's plugged into an outlet.
