After launching the Galaxy S8 and S8+ in the US, the UK, Korea, and some other important markets, Samsung has launched its latest flagship smartphones today in India. The Galaxy S8 is priced at INR 57,900 (around $893), while the Galaxy S8+ carries a price tag of INR 64,900 (around $987) in the country. Both these smartphones would be available for preorder starting today, and will go on sale in India starting May 5.
It will be available for purchase online through Flipkart as well as Samsung's official online store. Samsung will offer its new convertible wireless charger for free to those consumers who preorder the Galaxy S8 or S8+ in India. Samsung has also partnered with Reliance Jio to offer double the Internet data (28GB +28GB) to Galaxy S8 owners at just INR 309 (around $4.77) per month.
The Galaxy S8 and S8+ feature 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch QHD+ curved Super AMOLED displays, respectively. These smartphones feature a 12-megapixel primary camera and an 8-megapixel secondary camera. The variants launched for the Indian market feature 10nm Exynos 8895 processors, 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, and a hybrid dual-SIM slot. These new devices also support mobile payments in India through Samsung Pay.
The Galaxy S8 uses a 3,000 mAh battery, while the Galaxy S8+ features a 3,500 mAh battery. Both smartphones run Android 7.0, and feature fingerprint readers, an iris scanner, a USB Type-C port, and AKG in-ear earphones. The company showcased the DeX docking station (priced at INR 8,999), the new Gear VR with a wireless controller, and the Gear 360 (2017) camera on stage, but the pricing and availability of the latter two weren't announced.
