Samsung has started distributing a hefty update for both variants of the Gear S3 — the Gear S3 classic and Gear S3 frontier — in the United States. The upgrade brings a slew of new features to the table, including compatibility for BMW Connected, Gear for Nest and Spotify, in addition to an auto-refresh option for the barometer.
Also bundled into the update is compatibility for Google's recently-announced Find My Device platform. Once marked as lost, the Gear S3 will show its owner's contact information on the screen, in the hope that it will be safely returned. If not, the user can remotely wipe it (providing it's connected to the internet, of course).
To install the upgrade, open up the Gear application on your smartphone, navigate into the Settings panel, tap About Gear, press Update Gear Software, then hit Download Updates Manually. That's all there is to it. A word of caution, though: it's a pretty big release, so you're probably going to want to connect to a Wi-Fi network.
