Samsung today announced VR Live Pass on Gear VR, it's a lineup of global live entertainment partnerships with UFC, X-Games and Live Nation. The company is going to stream select live events, enabling viewers to enjoy virtual reality broadcasts of action sports and music events using the Gear VR.
The VR Live Pass on Gear VR events is going to be available through the Samsung VR app early next month. Gear VR users can use this app to view live entertainment events and performance regardless of wherever they are.
“Partnering with these companies to expand our VR services helps us to open up a new gateway of opportunities for fans and demonstrate our commitment to delivering experiences that make the seemingly impossible, possible,” said Younghee Lee, CMO and EVP, Samsung Electronics.
The broadcasts will start next month and will include UFC 212: Aldo vs. Holloway. It will be the first time in UFC history that an event will be live streamed in virtual reality. VR content will also include pre-event and post-event show highlights.
X Games Minneapolis, the biggest action sports event of the year, will be streamed live in VR as well. Live Nation, the largest live event company in the world, will organize a live music concert with an international artist in August which will be streamed live for Gear VR users.
Samsung says that these partnerships will provide Gear VR users with an unrivaled “live pass” to shows and that they will be able to access all of this content for free.
