Samsung India has dropped the official prices of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in the country by a sizable margin. The Galaxy S8+ has received the more significant drop in price, with the phone now available for Rs. 58,900, down from Rs. 64,900. The Galaxy S8, meanwhile, is now available for Rs. 53,990 instead of Rs. 57,990. It's unclear if these price cuts are permanent or a temporary offer for the upcoming holidays for the festival of Diwali, but right now, they do make Samsung's most recent Galaxy S flagships excellent value for money even after six months on the market.
More than just a price cut
In addition to the reduced price, Samsung is offering a one-time screen replacement at Rs. 990 (as opposed to nearly Rs. 15,000 for regular screen replacements) for all Galaxy S8 and S8+ purchases (this is an offer that's also been extended to other Samsung phones in the country in recent weeks). Users of HDFC bank credit cards can get a cashback of Rs. 4,000, which would bring down the effective price of the S8 to Rs. 49,990 and the S8+ to Rs. 54,900. For regular credit card users, there's the option to buy the phone on installments without any extra charge.
Again, it's unclear if the price cut is permanent, so those looking for a flagship phone in India would do well to take advantage of this offer. The Galaxy S8+ is an especially attractive purchase, coming in Rs. 10,000 cheaper than the Note 8. The lower price is applicable on both Samsung's online store and Flipkart, the company's official online partner for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+.
