October is almost over and yet there are still many Samsung handsets out there that haven't received the latest security update. Samsung has finally started rolling out the Galaxy Note 8 October security patch today.
The company detailed the latest security maintenance release for Android device three weeks ago. It has since been released for a handful of devices, including the Galaxy S8.
Galaxy Note 8 October Security Patch
The Galaxy Note 8 October security patch is now being rolled out in China and Hong Kong. Samsung has released the firmware update for Galaxy Note 8 units bearing model numbers SM-N9508 and SM-N9500.
There are no reports so far of this update being released in other markets. However, now that Samsung has released it in China, it may only be a matter of time before the Galaxy Note 8 October security update is released in additional markets.
The October 2017 security patch brings fixes for 215 vulnerabilities in the Android operating system. Patches for six vulnerabilities in Samsung's software are included as well. Since it's a minor update that's meant for rolling out the latest security fixes, users shouldn't expect much in the way of new functionality.
It may only be a matter of days before the October security patch for the Galaxy Note 8 is released in other markets across the globe.
