A new report claims that the Galaxy S10 launch date will be set for January 2019. It's not unusual to hear reports suggesting that Samsung might launch its next flagship smartphone ahead of schedule. That's actually what it did this year for the Galaxy S9 which was unveiled about a month before the Galaxy S8 was last year.
However, this isn't the average early launch rumor. Samsung might have to unveil the Galaxy S10 in January next year because one of its most anticipated smartphones might finally be launched in early 2019.
Galaxy S10 launch date
South Korean news outlet The Bell reported today that Samsung has asked its parts suppliers to start supplying components for its much-rumored foldable smartphone this November. The report adds that this handset is going to be launched early next year, possibly at the Mobile World Congress 2019.
The Galaxy S9 was launched on the eve of MWC 2018 and one would have expected the company to stick with the same timeframe for its 10th anniversary flagship. That might not be the case next year if the foldable smartphone is to be launched in Barcelona. Samsung wouldn't want one handset stealing the spotlight from the other so it would make sense to launch the Galaxy S10 and the foldable smartphone a month apart.
The company is reportedly going to start sourcing parts for its 10th anniversary flagship which is expected to bring many new features by this October. So when might the Galaxy S10 launch date be in January 2019? The report claims that Samsung is likely going to launch the Galaxy S10 at the Consumer Electronics Show, the biggest tech trade show in the world. CES 2019 will be held in Las Vegas from January 8-11.
Samsung hasn't used the CES stage to launch new flagship smartphones in recent years. It does make an appearance at the trade show but largely focuses on other consumer electronics products like home appliances.
Launching the two hotly anticipated handsets a month apart does make sense on paper but take this information with a grain of salt for now. It's still far too early to be sure of Samsung's Galaxy S10 launch plans.
