While some have complained about the way all of this played out, it's important to look at Samsung's update policy in context.
The Sprint Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge Oreo update is out today. Those who own these handsets on Sprint should soon receive an OTA update notification on their handsets.
Sprint Galaxy S7 Oreo update
Sprint is the third major carrier in the United States to release Oreo for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge so far. AT&T was the first to roll out the update on its network followed by Verizon. T-Mobile is the only carrier which hasn't released Oreo for the Galaxy S7 so far but it may not be long before Magenta does that as well.
The Sprint Galaxy S7 Oreo update is out now. The carrier is rolling out firmware version G930PVPU6CRE7 and G935PVPU6CRE7 for the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge respectively. It brings all of the features that are part and parcel of Android 8.0 Oreo as well as Samsung Experience 9.0 which includes some user interface improvements as well.
Sprint subscribers who haven't received the update notification on their handsets should sit tight as it's only a matter of time now before it pops up. The update will weigh in at over 1.3GB which isn't surprising given that it's a major Android platform update.
