Your new Galaxy Buds are in for a treat thanks to a new update Samsung is rolling out for its AKG-tuned wireless earbuds. Perhaps the most important part of the new update is the touchpad improvements for when you double or triple-tap the touchpad, along with an option to select whether you want to permanently or temporarily enable the Ambient sound feature (which lets you be aware of your surroundings while listening to music or other media on the earbuds) with a long press on the touchpad.
And if you're not fond of touch controls, the update adds the ability to control various functions on the earbuds through Bixby. For example, you can ask Bixby to enable or disable Ambient sound, change to a different equalizer setting, lock the touchpad, and tell you the battery status. However, Bixby control is only possible with US English and Korean at the moment, so if you have Bixby Voice set to use another language, you're out of luck. Hopefully, new updates will bring support for other languages in the near future.
To update your Galaxy Buds, open the Galaxy Wearable app while the buds are connected to your smartphone. A pop-up should appear if an update is available for your Galaxy Buds. You can also manually check for updates by going to the Galaxy Buds section of the app and then tapping About earbuds at the bottom of the screen, followed by Update earbuds software, and finally, Download and install. You can update through your Windows or Mac PC as well by using the Galaxy Buds Manager program.
