The Galaxy S25 has been spotted in the Geekbench benchmark database running Android 16 (One UI 8.0). Earlier this month, Galaxy S25 Ultra Android 16 firmware was spotted on Samsung's servers. The base model has now appeared on Geekbench running a newer Android 16 firmware.
Last year, the first Android 15 firmware and benchmarks for the Galaxy S24 series were spotted in May and July respectively, so this is a good sign that the One UI 8.0 update will arrive faster than One UI 7.
Not that we should be surprised. Samsung revealed earlier this year that One UI 7 required long-term planning and testing because of how many changes it brings to the software experience on Galaxy smartphones. One UI 8 is likely to be a relatively smaller update and, therefore, have a shorter development period.

Google may have a big hand in One UI 8's early arrival
Another reason why One UI 8 could be here sooner than expected is Google's adoption of a new development model that will see Android 16 going gold in June this year instead of August or September.
June is still two months away, though, so it's too early to celebrate. For now, we're just hoping Samsung will start the official One UI 7 rollout on schedule.
