Samsung finally seems to have launched the active noise cancelling USB Type-C AKG earphones that the company had said it would release alongside the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+. Samsung Korea and Samsung UAE have the earphones listed simply as ‘ANC Earphone (Type C)', and the product page on Samsung's Korea website says the earphones are compatible with “the Galaxy Note 10, Note 10+, Tab S6, Fold 5G, S10e, S10, S10 + and S10 5G and all Samsung smartphones and tablets without 3.5 mm terminal.”
Basically, these earphones should be compatible with most Galaxy phones that have a USB Type-C port, although it's unclear if the active noise cancellation will also work on all devices that can output audio to these earphones. It technically should, and Samsung is touting noise cancellation by up to 99.15%, along with better stereo separation thanks to the USB Type-C plug. However, we will have to do a real-world test to see how the overall audio quality differs from the AKG earphones you get in the box with the Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+.
The ANC earphones come in black with blue highlights and are priced at 77,000 won in South Korea, which translates to around $65 USD. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Samsung is selling these earphones in any other market at the moment – even Samsung UAE isn't selling them online and is only providing a list of retailers where the product can be purchased in person. Fingers crossed widespread availability will not take long to happen.
