Initial stock of the Galaxy Fold sold out in 30 minutes in India

Despite the high price tag and questions over durability, the Galaxy Fold continues to be a sought-after device in all the markets where it’s currently on sale. The same appears to be true in India as well as the initial stock of the Galaxy Fold reportedly sold out in 30 minutes after pre-bookings were open on Samsung’s online store on October 4, according to an IANS report.

While that sounds impressive, it’s worth noting that Samsung apparently sold a total of only 1,600 Galaxy Fold units in India – a country with more than a billion people. Nevertheless, it is still noteworthy given how quickly the stock vanished in a price-conscious market like India. Moreover, all these pre-bookings are confirmed sales as the customers were required to pay the full price upfront while placing the order.

The report also states that Samsung has temporarily closed pre-bookings until further stock arrives. The already-placed orders will be delivered to the customers through a concierge on October 20. Buyers will also get access to a dedicated expert on call 24×7 for any queries or concerns about the foldable smartphone.

The Galaxy Fold is priced at Rs. 1,65,000 in India, which puts it in the luxury smartphone segment. Along with the device, the customers also get Galaxy Buds and an Aramid fiber case in the box. To allay fears over durability, the Fold comes with a one-year Infinity Flex Display Protection that entitles customers to get damaged displays repaired or replaced at a discounted price of Rs. 10,500.
