Some more information about the Galaxy S20 has surfaced online today, following the first leaked live images of the Galaxy S20+ 5G. Samsung fans are counting down the days until February 11 when the company is finally going to unveil its new flagship smartphone.

We've previously expressed the wish that the Galaxy S20 needs to be a beast in the camera department in order to effectively compete in the saturated high-end market. Rumors have already suggested that the Galaxy S20 is going to up its camera game, and we now have some more information about exactly how it's going to do that.

Galaxy S20+ can record 8K video, brings new camera modes

XDA Developers corroborates a recent report which quoted Samsung mobile CEO DJ Koh as saying that the Galaxy S20 will be the first smartphone to capture 8K video at 30 fps. The scribe also hears from its source that 4K video recording will be possible at 60 fps with both front and rear cameras.

Speaking of the cameras, the Galaxy S20+ is expected to feature a new 12-megapixel 1.8μm as-yet-unannounced sensor made by Sony. The Galaxy S20+ images have shown that there will be four cameras at the back. The others will be telephoto, ultra wide angle and presumably even macro cameras. Samsung's 108-megapixel primary camera may only be present on the Galaxy S20 Ultra.

Unsurprisingly, Samsung will be introducing several new camera modes and features with the flagship. Smart Selfie Angle is one such feature. It will automatically switch the camera to wide angle when it detects that more than two people are in the selfie shot. This is going to make life a lot easier for users as most often forget that they can manually switch to wide angle for the selfie. The Zoom-In Mic feature that Samsung introduced with the Galaxy Note 10 last year is also making its way to the Galaxy S20 series.

Single Take Photo is a new camera mode that basically instructs the user to move their phone around the subject a certain way while it captures photos and short videos. The mode, which has its own UI in the gallery, will then recommend the best shots. A Pro Video mode is included too. The name suggests that it will enable users to utilize pro mode settings in videos as well.

Clearly, the Galaxy S20 will have a lot to offer in the camera department. Keep in mind that all of this information is from someone who appears to have their hands on a pre-production unit of the Galaxy S20+. Samsung may very well have some more surprises in store for us with the Galaxy S20 Ultra. All will be unveiled on February 11 at Samsung's Unpacked event and we'll be in San Francisco to let you know as it happens.
