Samsung India has started teasing the imminent arrival of its first 2020 Galaxy M series phone for the Indian market. The company has put two popular Indian bloggers to the task of posting teasers about the Galaxy M31 on their social media handles and confirmed that the device will have a 64MP main rear camera and a big battery like its predecessors.
The only smartphone Samsung currently has on the market with a 64MP camera is the Galaxy A70s, which is priced in a higher segment than the company's Galaxy M lineup. That would make a 64MP camera on the Galaxy M31 an impressive feat, especially if Samsung is able to price the phone as competitively as it did the Galaxy M30s. As for battery capacity, it remains to be seen if the M31's battery capacity will be 5,000 mAh like the M30, 6,000 mAh like the M30s, or something even higher.
The Galaxy M31 is expected to feature four rear cameras in total, and we're assuming the other three cameras will be a 5MP macro lens, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 5MP depth sensor similar to the Galaxy A51. Under the hood, the Galaxy M31 will have the Exynos 9611 processor and 6GB of RAM, according to a benchmark listing for the phone, along with at least 64GB storage. It will run Android 10 with One UI 2.0 out of the box and should receive an update to Android 11 and Android 12.
As we had exclusively reported earlier, Samsung has at least three Galaxy M series phones in development. The Galaxy M31 will be joined by the Galaxy M11 and Galaxy M21 later in the year, though at this time it's unclear when any of these phones will be unveiled. The Galaxy M31 will probably go official in the next couple of weeks, and we'll be on the lookout for any other teasers and details Samsung may provide in the lead up to the phone's announcement.
