Galaxy S20’s autofocus fixing update out for unlocked units in the US

Samsung has been trying its best to fix the autofocus issues that plague the Galaxy S20 Ultra's camera, and the company seems to have succeeded with the latest software update that it released for its new flagship series. That update was released for the Exynos-powered international models earlier this week, and it is now making its way to the Snapdragon models sold in the United States.

The new firmware, carrying build number G98xU1UEU1ATCH, is rolling out to the unlocked variants of the Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra in the country. It noticeably improves the focusing speed on the Galaxy S20 Ultra camera, as we can confirm from our testing and has also been reiterated by owners of the device. The update's changelog also mentions an improved camera for the Galaxy S20 and S20+, though it's unclear if there are actual improvements or if Samsung simply decided to the copy paste the same changelog for all three models.

As of this moment, no carrier in the US seems to have released the new update, but it likely won't be too long before that changes. For now, if you own the unlocked Galaxy S20, S20+, or S20 Ultra, you should see a notification informing you about the update in the next couple of days. You can also download the update right away by selecting Download and install in the phone's Settings » Software update menu or by installing the latest firmware that you can download from our archive on your phone using a Windows PC.
