Samsung has decided to end support for three in-car services at the same time. We hear that the company will no longer support MirrorLink, Care Mode and Find My Car. Samsung's devices have had MirrorLink support since 2014.

MirrorLink is a widely used standard for car and smartphone connectivity. Those who own cars with MirrorLink-compatible stereos could use the built-in app on their Samsung phones to mirror their device's screen to the car's infotainment display.

Samsung shuts down some more services

Samsung has now decided to end support for MirrorLink starting June 1, 2020. It will not be available to new users after that. Existing users will be able to continue using it, however, if they factory reset their device, connect to a new vehicle, clear app data or even update the firmware on their device, they'll lose Mirrorlink.

Samsung introduced its Car Mode app in 2015 as a sort of an alternative to Android Auto. It provided easy access to features you were most likely to use in the car, such as navigation and music playback. It wasn't a dedicated in-car infotainment system like Android Auto, though, Car Mode just used the MirrorLink standard to run on the in-car screen.

Car Mode support also ends on June 1, 2020 after which the app will no longer be available from the Google Play Store and Galaxy Store. When service ends, all of the personal data collected for the Car Mode service will be deleted immediately. Even if you download the app before then, it will be terminated forcefully when launched after service ends. Android Auto is recommended as an alternative for users who'd like similar functionality in their cars.

Find My Car was an app for Samsung's wearable devices which allowed you to use the GPS functionality to pinpoint exactly where you parked your car. Samsung has decided to end support for this app on June 1, 2020. The app will no longer be available for download and launching it after the end of service will result in it being forcibly closed.
