The Galaxy Z Fold 2 might represent the biggest evolutionary step for any second-generation mobile device ever. It's been upgraded over the original Galaxy Fold on almost every front, but the biggest focus in Samsung's eyes was to bring significant improvements to the exterior design, the hinge, and both of its displays. The company has achieved that in spades.
The phone-tablet hybrid looks gorgeous from any angle in all the leaked and official presentations so far, and today we finally get to see the Galaxy Z Fold 2 ‘in flesh' thanks to a leaked short hands-on video shared on Twitter by @BenGeskin. It turns out that the Galaxy Z Fold 2 doesn't only look gorgeous in press renders but also in the real world.
The video has no sound but the folding motion inspires great confidence in the new hinge. The phone looks very sturdy and the hinge motion is seemingly very satisfying. There's still a crease running across the middle of the foldable panel, but the bezels are thinner and the lack of a notch elevate the Foldable Dynamic AMOLED display to a new level. It does look familiar to existing Galaxy Fold owners, unlike the cover display which is truly stunning, especially when compared to the original model's.
The 6.2-inch Super AMOLED cover display plays a pivotal role in making the Galaxy Z Fold 2 a true hybrid device that can be both a smartphone and a tablet. The original cover display was too small to reach this goal, but as you can tell from this video alone, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 drastically changes that smartphone-tablet dynamic in the best way possible.
