Samsung has released an official changelog detailing the many vulnerabilities that have been fixed in the October 2020 security patch. The October security patch has already reached a handful of Galaxy phones, including all of Samsung's 2019 and 2020 flagships, and more devices are expected to make the jump to the latest patch in the coming weeks.
New firmware that bring the October patch to these devices will be available for download from SamMobile's archives once they go live in different markets. 21 Samsung-exclusive vulnerabilities fixed in October patch
The October security patch fixes five critical-risk vulnerabilities found in the Android OS, along with dozens of moderate and high-risk vulnerabilities. It also fixes 21 vulnerabilities discovered in Samsung's software. One of those exploits allowed unauthorized access to the SD card and contents in the user's Secure Folder, while another enabled access to sensitive data through the Auto Hotspot feature. Information on some vulnerabilities has not been disclosed, which is standard practice in order to prevent exploitation before the necessary fixes have reached all eligible devices.
