Samsung is one of the world's leading suppliers of storage products and the company today announced two new lines of SD cards. The new cards are meant for professional photographers to content creators and everyone else in between.
The company's new PRO Plus and EVO Plus cards come with the promise of exceptional speeds and improved durability. These SD cards can be used across a variety of devices including DSLR and mirrorless cameras, camcorders and PCs.
Samsung enhances speed and durability for new SD cards
Both lines utilize the same SDHC/SDXC form-factor. The Samsung PRO Plus cards offer sequential read and write speeds of up to 100MB/s and 90MB/s respectively. This level of performance is best suited for flawless 4K video recording and burst shots.
Do keep in mind, though, that the entry-level 32GB PRO Plus card only reaches write speeds of up to 60MB/s. All EVO Plus cards are rated by Samsung at 100MB/s for both sequential reads and writes.
These SD cards are water, temperature, x-ray, shock, drop and wear-proof. Samsung says that they can withstand up to five-meter drops and up to 10,000 swipes. A 10-year limited warranty is offered as well. Samsung also points out that all of the components and firmware inside the PRO Plus and EVO Plus cards are produced by the company in-house to ensure the highest levels of quality.
The PRO Plus and EVO Plus cards are available in storage capacities from 32GB to 256GB. The 32/64/128/256GB PRO Plus cards cost $9.99, $16.99, $25.99 and $49.99 respectively. The EVO Plus cards in these capacities cost $6.99, $12.99, $19.99 and $39.99 respectively. Pre-orders begin today and they will be available on October 19.
