Earlier today, Samsung started rolling out the April 2021 security patch to the Galaxy A20 (international variant), Galaxy A30, and the Galaxy A70. Now, the company has released the latest security patch to the US variant of the Galaxy A20 as well. The update is now available for the carrier as well as unlocked variants of the phone.
The US variant of the Galaxy A20 (SM-A205U1) is now getting the April 2021 security patch. The new software update for the smartphone, which has firmware version A205U1UES9BUC1, is now available for unlocked and all carrier variants of the Galaxy A20. These carrier variants include AT&T, Bluegrass Cellular, C-Spire, Sprint, Verizon, and Xfinity Mobile. The April 2021 security patch fixes various exposures and vulnerabilities, including more than 30 fixes from Google and 21 fixes from Samsung. Needless to say, it is a critical update for the Galaxy A20 in terms of security and privacy.
If you are a Galaxy A20 user in the US, you might have received the update already. If not, you can manually check for the update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. The company could roll out this update to the Galaxy A20 over the next few days in more markets worldwide. The Galaxy A20 was launched in March 2019 with Android 9 on board, and since then, it has received one major Android OS update (Android 10 with One UI 2.0) and regular security patches.
