It's been a long time coming, but the unlocked Galaxy A51 is finally getting the Android 11-based One UI 3.1 firmware update in the USA. As many of you know, Samsung first updated the international model with Android 11 and One UI 3.0 back in February. The Galaxy A51 continued to receive regular security patches since, and it even made the jump to One UI 3.1 without any signs of Android 11 reaching customers in the USA. Now, the wait is finally over.
Samsung customers who own the unlocked Galaxy A51 (SM-A515U1) in the USA should be greeted with a firmware update notification at any moment. As always, owners can also attempt to trigger the update process from the phone's Settings menu under Software update, or they can visit our firmware archive where we post new Samsung firmware files regularly. The latest update for the unlocked Galaxy A51 (SM-A515U1) can be identified by firmware version A515U1UEU5CUF1, and unsurprisingly, it includes the June 2021 security patch.
As for the update itself, Android 11 / One UI 3.1 introduces a refreshed user interface along with various improvements to Samsung apps and features. Blue light filter got replaced an improved Eye Comfort Shield, and removing location data from photos before sharing them online is now easier than ever thanks to a new addition to the Gallery app. Other features include an improved Dark Mode, improved Parental Controls and Digital Wellbeing, additional lock screen customization options and more. Remember that the unlocked Galaxy A51 in the USA is being updated from Android 10 / One UI 2, so it's a pretty big leap to One UI3.1 and not just a routine firmware release.
