Galaxy Z Fold 3 Indian launch all but confirmed by BIS certification

Although the Galaxy Z Fold 3 still does not have a concrete release date, Samsung is already doling out samples of the foldable to partners. There's even a China-only variant called the Galaxy W22 5G. Users looking to get their hands on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 in India will be pleased to know that they will be able to do so soon-ish. The foldable has just received BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) certification, indicating that Samsung has the Indian Government's blessings to sell the Galaxy Z Fold 3 in the country.

While the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3's predecessor —the Galaxy Z Fold 2— came with an eye-watering price tag, it sold relatively well in the few-odd markets that it was available in. This time around, it might actually be within the grasp of many consumers, as the Z Fold 3 could up to cost 20% less than the Galaxy Z Fold 2, meaning that one could theoretically get it for US$1,600. Now, that is still a considerable amount of money, but the high-end smartphone market has breached the US$1,500 mark already, so an extra US$100 doesn't seem like much of a stretch, especially for a revolutionary piece of technology.

Based on what we know about the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 so far, the foldable will be the first-ever Samsung product to ship with an under-display selfie camera. Rumour has it that it will also be one of the first devices to run Qualcomm's yet-to-be-released Snapdragon 888+ chipset. Its hardware prowess notwithstanding, Samsung seems to have a lot of faith in the foldable, as it is reportedly churning out as many as 70,000 Galaxy Z Fold 3 units per day.
