After releasing the latest security patch to its high-end and mid-range Galaxy devices over the past three weeks, Samsung has set its sight on older affordable and mid-range smartphones. Today, the South Korean firm started rolling out the July 2021 security patch to the two-year-old Galaxy A02 Core.
Right now, the Galaxy A02 Core is getting a new software update in India. The latest update, which has firmware version A260GDDSBAUF1, fixes close to 20 vulnerabilities related to privacy and security. It also aims to fix the Android Auto bug that some people were facing on their Galaxy smartphones. The update could roll out in more markets over the next few days.
If you are a Galaxy A02 Core user in India, you might have received a notification of the new update. If you haven't received it already, you can manually check for the update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also download the latest firmware file from our firmware section and flash it manually.
Samsung had launched the Galaxy A02 Core in mid-2019 with Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition). It has not received any major Android OS update over the past two years, though, and it is likely that it won't receive any Android version update in the future.
