Samsung started releasing the August 2021 security update last week. The Galaxy A52 was the first phone from the company to get it. The update then expanded to the Galaxy A72, Galaxy A8 (2018), and the Chinese variant of the Galaxy S21. Now, the Galaxy S20 FE has received the update ahead of other Galaxy S20 series phones.
The Galaxy S20 FE has started getting the new security update in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Slovakia, and Switzerland. It bears firmware version G780FXXU5CUG6 and includes the August 2021 security patch. Samsung is yet to fully reveal which vulnerabilities it has fixed with the August 2021 update, but we expect detailed documentation to be published by the South Korean firm after a couple of weeks.
If you are a Galaxy S20 FE user in any of the countries mentioned above, you might have already received a notification of the update. If you haven't, you can check for it manually by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also flash the latest firmware manually after downloading it from our firmware database. The update could be released in more markets over the next few days.
Samsung had launched the Galaxy S20 FE in October 2020 with Android 10 out of the box. The smartphone received the Android 11-based One UI 3 update in December 2020 and the One UI 3.1 update in February 2021.
