The Galaxy A50s has started receiving a new firmware update, one that bumps its security patch level up to August 1st, 2021. The new software is identified by version number A507FNXXU5DUG4 and has already been sighted in several Asian countries. The Philippines, Malaysia, and Thailand, to name a few.
In all of those cases, the rollout began this week, so expect the new firmware to hit your device in the very near future. As always, you can attempt triggering the download manually by navigating to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Or simply proceed to our firmware archives, download a compatible set of system images containing the new update, then flash them to your Galaxy A50s on your own.
Expect the August 2021 security update to land on your Galaxy A50s shortly
The Galaxy A50s was one of Samsung's biggest hits back when it landed on the market in 2019. The device has been receiving pretty consistent security patches ever since. Ditto for major OS updates; the Android 11-based One UI 3.1 hit the Galaxy A50s just this spring, for example.
By now, the mid-ranger is definitely more than halfway through its planned lifespan. And while new operating system updates are off the table, you can expect another year's worth of quarterly security patches. At least based on Samsung's established practices and previously made guarantees. Afterwards, it might be time to consider an upgrade. But if this year is any indication, you'll have no shortage of the best Samsung smartphones offering amazing value for money to choose from when that day finally comes.
