Google surprised everyone this year by unveiling a newer version of Android earlier than its usual time frame. The first developer beta version of Android 12 landed in February 2021. Last month, Samsung announced Android 12-based One UI 4.0 and revealed that there would be a One UI 4.0 beta program for the Galaxy S21 series. We expect the One UI 4.0 beta update to arrive soon.

Samsung has released a new version (v4.7.31) of the One Hand Operation+ app on the Galaxy Store, and its changelog mentions Android 12 support. It means that the One UI 4.0 beta update could be released very soon, probably in September 2021. Samsung seems to be readying its own apps to run properly on Galaxy smartphones and tablets running Android 12-based One UI 4.0.

The new version of One Hand Operation+ brings various bug fixes, stability improvements, and the ability to modify the minimum value of long swipe gesture distance.

What to expect with Android 12-based One UI 4.0?

It has been revealed in the past that One UI 4.0 will bring big UI changes, including refreshed icons and color schemes. Apparently, the whole look will resemble stock Android 12 UI design, complete with Material You elements and integration. It is also being rumored that Samsung will improve the performance of phones equipped with Exynos 2100 and Snapdragon 888 chipsets. Improvements to Samsung Knox and Samsung Notes are expected as well.

Samsung might also release One UI 4.0 beta programs for the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 series. Eventually, the company will release the Android 12 update to most Galaxy smartphones and tablets released over the past two years. You can look at the list of Galaxy devices that will get the Android 12 update.
