We haven't talked much about the Galaxy S9 series lately, aside from when it got the August 2021 security patch. It's only natural given its age, but despite its relevancy waning due to the passage of time, the Galaxy S9 probably remains one of the most beloved Galaxy S flagships to date. And now, it can be yours for the price of a low-cost budget Galaxy phone.
Woot! — the daily deals website owned by Amazon — is now selling the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ for just $149 and $159, respectively. Of course, Samsung no longer manufactures the Galaxy S9 series, so the units sold by Woot! are refurbished (Grade A refurbished, at that). Even so, they're very cheap, and the Galaxy S9 series offers a lot for the price of a budget phone. And although we don't usually discuss refurbished deals, the Galaxy S9 series holds a special place in our hearts.
The last Galaxy S with an iris scanner and force touch
The Galaxy S9 series can no longer impress with raw power and performance. These flagships aged gracefully, but they aged nonetheless and are no longer at the top of the food chain. Even so, for the price of $149/$159, you'd be hard-pressed to find a Galaxy phone that can perform better. The Galaxy A12 costs $20-$30 more, but its Helio P35 chipset can't hold a candle to the Snapdragon 845 / Exynos 9810. And with this deal, you should be getting the Snapdragon variant.
In addition, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ were the last in the series to boast a dedicated iris scanner and force touch technology. In case you forgot, the Galaxy S9 had an “Applesque” 3D touch feature that added pressure sensitivity to the on-screen home button.
Furthermore, these Samsung flagships from 2018 are equipped with SpO2 and heart rate sensors, and of course, they have basic features like a 3.5mm audio port and microSD storage.
