The frequency of security updates from Samsung seemed to have gone down a bit after the company released the first Android 12-based One UI 4.0 beta for its flagship Galaxy S21 lineup, but things seem to be picking back up again.
Samsung's released the September 2021 security update for a couple of devices this week. The Galaxy A50 was one of those devices and got the update on the international model first, and the carrier-locked variants in the USA are already catching up.
Comcast has released a new update that bundles the September 2021 security patch for the Galaxy A50. The update sports firmware version A505USQSFDUI1 and packs no changes or improvements other than the latest security fixes.
And that's pretty much going to be the Galaxy A50's fate going forward as far as software updates are concerned. The device has already received two major Android and One UI upgrades and isn't eligible for Android 12. Yes, it's unfortunate, but only flagship phones from 2019 are included in Samsung's promise of three generations of OS updates.
As usual, you can download the new update that's rolling out now from the phone's Settings » Software update menu. Our firmware archive has the latest firmware ready to go if you would prefer updating your phone using a Windows PC (just make sure to backup all important data beforehand).
