The Galaxy A34 5G is one of Samsung's anticipated mid-range smartphone releases in 2023, and some details of the phone have made their way online in recent weeks. And, interestingly enough, there's some disparity between the rumors and specs that have been confirmed via online benchmarks.
While rumors say the Galaxy A34 5G will have the same Exynos 1280 chipset as the Galaxy A33 5G, benchmarks have revealed that at least the Korean and European variants will have a MediaTek chip instead. The MediaTek Dimensity 1080, in particular, which is an octa-core chip with two high-performance 2.6GHz Cortex-A78 cores and six efficient 2.0GHz Cortex-A55 cores.

The Galaxy A34 5G might not be the only mid-range Samsung phone that is powered by two different chips depending on your country. The Galaxy A14 5G is also powered by a MediaTek chip in some markets and an Exynos chip in others – the MediaTek Dimensity 700 and the Exynos 1330 respectively, to be specific.
As for other Galaxy A34 5G specs, not much is expected to change compared to the Galaxy A33 5G. You can expect a 5,000 mAh battery, a 6.4-6.5-inch display with 90Hz refresh rate, an 8MP ultra-wide and 5MP macro camera at the rear in addition to likely a 50MP primary camera, a 13MP camera, and Android 13 with One UI 5.1 out of the box. Features like stereo speakers and IP67 water resistance can also be expected.
Again, the Galaxy A33 5G looks to be essentially quite similar to its predecessor, so here's hoping Samsung won't be increasing the asking price by a huge margin, or by any margin at all, once the phone goes official in the next few months.
