Galaxy S21 owners aren't the only Samsung customers who can enjoy new software features starting today. Along with the first public One UI 4.0 update for the Galaxy S21 series, today Samsung's releasing new firmware for a handful of its smartwatches. It adds almost a dozen new watch faces and improvements to Fall Detection.

Samsung's making the update available for the Galaxy Watch and Watch 3, as well as the Galaxy Watch Active and its sequel. It includes ten new watch faces that debuted with the Galaxy Watch 4, some of which offer deep customization options.

On the more practical side, the update borrows from the Galaxy Watch 4 in the way of adding advanced Fall Detection with more sensitivity levels and the option to enable detection when the wearer is standing still.

The update is live for you today if you meet these criteria

Samsung makes it clear that availability may differ by market and operator, but the plan is to release the update for the Bluetooth versions of the Galaxy Watch, Watch 3, Watch Active, and Watch Active 2 first. This phase begins today in the USA and Korea. The Bluetooth versions in other markets, along with the LTE variants everywhere, should receive the same update shortly after.

Of course, advanced Fall Detection will be coming to smartwatch models that already have the Fall Detection feature, meaning the Galaxy Watch Active 2, the Watch 3. Samsung left out the Galaxy Watch and Watch Active for obvious reasons. But luckily, fans who rock these models can look forward to the ten new watch faces included with the update.

Customers in the USA and Korea can check for the update today via the Wearable app on their connected smartphone. Join us on our social media networks and you won't miss out on future updates.
