The Galaxy S23 Ultra will bring a newer primary camera (200MP) and a better selfie camera (12MP). The rest of the cameras, including the ultrawide and two telephoto sensors, will remain similar to the Galaxy S22 Ultra. However, the upcoming flagship phone could still offer improvements in zoom photos.
Leaked camera samples show that the Galaxy S23 Ultra's 10MP telephoto cameras offer improved image quality compared to the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Edwards Urbina, who leaked unboxing video and camera samples of Samsung's upcoming flagship earlier this week, has published camera samples at 10x and 30x focal lengths. And it looks like Samsung has really upped its game in terms of zoom performance. Leaves in the images appear sharper, and so does the hairy subject. Even at 30x zoom, we can see good enough details, although a part of the tree's branch was overexposed.

Galaxy S23 Ultra's zoom improvement could mostly be due to improved ISP and algorithms
A previous report revealed which camera sensors Samsung uses in the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Its primary rear camera uses the ISOCELL HP2 sensor with OIS, an F1.7 aperture, and Super QPD autofocus. The 12MP ultrawide camera uses the Sony IMX564 sensor, slightly newer than the IMX563 used in the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The 10MP telephoto sensors—IMX754 (3x zoom) and IMX754 (10x zoom)—have not been replaced. And even the aperture remains the same as the Galaxy S22 Ultra. So, it looks like most of this zoom improvement comes from improved image processing, thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2's new ISP and Samsung's better algorithms.
Even the selfie camera performance has improved, thanks to the new 12MP sensor that can capture 4K 60fps HDR videos. The tweets below show you more camera samples from the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
