With the launch of the Galaxy S23 series (and the new Galaxy Book 3 laptop lineup) out of the way, Samsung is starting to get back to its usual routine. And that routine includes bringing new security updates to existing smartphones and tablets as quickly as possible.
The February 2023 security update released for the Galaxy Note 20 series earlier this week, and it is now available for the Galaxy S21 FE. Or at least the Galaxy S21 FE variant powered by the Exynos 2100, Samsung's least controversial mobile chip in the last few years.
Galaxy S21 FEs with model number SM-G990E are receiving a new update that comes bundled with the latest security patch. Brazil is the only country where the update seems to be rolling out for now, but you can expect the list to grow in the coming weeks and before we head into the month of March.
February 2023 security update out for Exynos versions of Galaxy S21 FE
The update comes with firmware version G990EXXS3DWAA and has only the February 2023 security patch to offer. Our guess is that the next Galaxy S21 FE update to bring new features will be the One UI 5.1 update. Samsung has not yet officially revealed whether One UI 5.1 is coming to older devices, but we can assume that will happen at some point in the near future if history is any guide.
To download the latest update on your Galaxy S21 FE, open the phone's Settings app, navigate to Software update, then tap the Download and install button. Firmware files for the latest update can be downloaded from our archive if you wish to upgrade your phone manually using a Windows PC, although we would only advise this method if you're comfortable (and preferably experienced at) updating your Android phone on your own.
