The Galaxy A72 has started getting a new software update. While most high-end smartphones from the company have been getting the One UI 5.1 update since yesterday, Galaxy A72 users were hoping that the new update would also bring One UI 5.1 to their phones. However, the new update doesn't bring a newer version of One UI. Instead, it's just a security update.
The latest software update for the Galaxy A72, which is rolling out in India, comes with firmware version A725FXXS5CWB2. It brings the February 2023 security patch, which fixes over four dozen security vulnerabilities, as explained in this article. The update could reach more markets in the next few days. The One UI 5.1 update could roll out to the phone sometime in the next couple of months.
If you are a Galaxy A72 user in India, you can download and install the new update on your phone by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also try downloading the new firmware file from our firmware database and flashing it manually.
Samsung launched the Galaxy A72 in 2021 with a promise of three major Android OS updates. The device debuted with Android 11 onboard and has already received the Android 13 update. It is bound to get one more Android OS update sometime later this year.
