While everything was going smoothly for Samsung because of the recent release of the Galaxy S23 series, the company is back under fire. This time, because of the Galaxy Z Fold 3. Samsung is facing backlash from Galaxy Z Fold 3 users as the screen of the foldable phone is cracking for no reason at all.
The situation gets worse for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 users as their device's screen is cracking even after careful usage, and the issue is arising after the warranty has expired. And since the phone is out of warranty, there isn't much a user can do but replace the screen at their own expense.
As per PhoneArena, one user reported that their device suffered a display crack even though the phone has never been dropped. As per the user, the crack appeared in the middle of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 display, while the owner is still paying off the $1,100 they spent to purchase the device.
When the owner contacted Samsung, the company referred them to UBreakiFix, who can reportedly fix the device for $800. That is insane because it is 73% of the original cost of the phone to fix something that may or may not have been the owner's fault.
Samsung has yet to say anything officially regarding this matter
A similar incident was reported by a Redditor named Snoo. Apparently, this Galaxy Z Fold 3 owner witnessed a crack on the internal screen of the device where the phone opens and closes. The owner complained that this issue appeared after safely using the device for 15 months.
There are several other users that are experiencing the same issue with the display of the Galaxy Z Fold 3, but there is no official comment from Samsung on this matter. Moreover, looking at all the user reports, the issue shows up right after the warranty expires, while some users find the damage appears around the one-and-a-half-year mark.
If you reside in the US, you use this link to get in touch with the company's CEO, explain your issue, and also upload photos of it. If that doesn't yield any result, then maybe contacting a lawyer and filing a class action suit against Samsung will help if this is a widespread issue.
For users in other regions, you can open the Samsung.com website, call the company's official support number, and demand to be attended by a higher official, which is possible thanks to the special concierge service Samsung provides to owners of its foldable phones.
