These Galaxy phones will get Samsung’s new Image Clipper

Samsung's new Image Clipper feature is available exclusively on the new Galaxy S23 flagship series. But that may not be the case for long. Other devices will supposedly get this clever Gallery tool through an app update.

Image Clipper allows Galaxy S23 users to tap, hold, and instantly crop objects from photos using the Gallery app. Users can then copy, share, or save the crop as a new image. The feature debuted with the Galaxy S23 series running One UI 5.1, but it is missing from older Galaxy devices that have already received the One UI 5.1 update.

Most likely, the feature will become available through a future Gallery app update for phones that have received or will receive One UI 5.1. And according to @GaryeonHan, the phones that will get this feature are:

  • Galaxy S20, Galaxy S21, and Galaxy S22 series, the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra, the Galaxy Z Fold 2, Z Fold 3, and Z Fold 4, as well as the Galaxy Z Flip and Z Flip 5G, the Galaxy Z Flip 3, and Z Flip 4.

Select Galaxy tablets may also receive Image Clipper later on when One UI 5.1 and new Gallery updates start rolling out, but availability details remain unclear.

Image Clipper is just one of many new features that debuted with One UI 5.1. The update, even though an incremental one after One UI 5.0, is quite feature-rich for what it is. And it came surprisingly early for several older Galaxy phones, including the S20, S21, and S22 series, as well as Fan Edition phones.

Samsung went on record earlier today, saying that the timely release of One UI 5.1 for older Galaxy phones is “the up-to-date example” of its commitment to bringing new firmware to Galaxy users as soon as possible.
