Last year, Samsung Display unveiled its first QD-OLED panel for gaming monitors. It has been used by Samsung itself, in addition to a couple of gaming monitors from Dell Alienware. Samsung Display has now announced that its QD-OLED panel is relatively safer for the eyes when compared to any other gaming monitor in the world.

Samsung Display's 34-inch QD-OLED display panel for gaming monitors has received the Eyesafe Certified 2.0 certification from TÜV Rheinland, a German testing and certification company. This certification means that the display emits far less blue light, providing more comfort for the eyes and higher confidence for users. Unlike regular blue light reduction mechanisms in monitors, Samsung's method doesn't degrade color accuracy. The company brought this feature through material research.

The new Eyesafe Certified 2.0 level introduces RPF (Radiation Protection Factor) that offers a more detailed view of blue light emissions. A higher RPF number indicates less blue light being emitted. Samsung's 34-inch QD-OLED monitor has an RPF 40 rating, indicating a BLTF (Blue Light Toxicity Factor) between 0.079 and 0.083, exceeding the requirement of RPF 35.

The QD-OLED panel from Samsung Display also received the Eye Care Display certification from SGS. The testing and certification agency's tests revealed that Samsung's QD-OLED panel emitted lower blue light than any other gaming monitor in the world that measures 31.5 inches or higher.

A Samsung Display official said, “Eyesafe Certified 2.0 confirms once again that QD-OLED is recognized as a superior display not only for its stunning picture quality but also for its eye health benefits. We are confident that QD-OLED is the optimal display for consumers who enjoy long hours of gaming and high-definition content.
