The popular music streaming service Spotify is replacing the ‘Heart button' with a new ‘Plus button'. The company believes these adjustments are designed to improve the user experience, save users time, and boost engagement. Within the next few weeks, the Heart button will be totally replaced by the Plus button, as it has already been rolled out to Android consumers around the globe.

Spotify stated in a blog post about the change: “This upgrade is the latest step in our ongoing work to create a more intuitive experience—all leading to an easier way for you to engage with the music and podcasts you love.”

Spotify's Plus button can do everything the Heart button can, and more

The heart button on Spotify has become an integral part of the streaming service. It allows users to quickly and easily save their favorite songs, albums, and playlists for easy access later on. It not only speeds up the process of finding your favorite music, it also helps Spotify's algorithm generate more precise recommendations based on your listening habits.

Now the heart button is being replaced with the Plus button on Spotify, which merges these two buttons into one. The new feature will allow users to add songs or podcasts and specify which playlist they wish to save them in.

To add a song or podcast episode to your “Liked Songs” or “Your Episodes” list, press the Plus button once adjacent to the song or podcast title in the “Now Playing” view. Once the track is saved, the Plus icon morphs into a green check.

Users can then change the playlist for that song or remove it entirely from saved tracks by tapping on the green check mark. Moreover, the Plus button also works with albums, playlists, audiobooks, and single tracks. Users can add albums to their “Your library” sections by tapping the + icon next to an album.
