Samsung has a new low-cost mid-range phone ready to be released by the end of March. The company announced the Galaxy A34 5G, and it might be one of the most interesting low-cost smartphones Samsung released in recent years.
The Galaxy A34 not only brings the expected yearly hardware and software improvements but tries to raise the bar to a new height and set new standards for the low-cost mid-range market. It seems to be a worthy upgrade over devices like the Galaxy A32 and Galaxy A32 5G, which are the main subjects of this comparison. How does the 2023 model compare to the low-cost versions released in 2021? Check out the details below, and don't forget to refer to our device comparison widgets for detailed hardware specs.
One Galaxy A34 is better than both A32 variants
Gone are the days when Samsung's low-cost Galaxy A phones are split between LTE and 5G models. That trend was short-lived, and now, Samsung has released only one Galaxy A34 variant that boasts 5G connectivity.
Needless to say, the Galaxy A34 5G is superior to the Galaxy A32 (LTE) and the Galaxy A32 5G. Take your pick, and the Galaxy A34 will beat either one of the 2021 variants in nearly every aspect, except it doesn't have a 3.5mm headphone port, and it lacks a 2MP depth camera.
The Galaxy A34 has a more powerful chipset and ships with more RAM than the 2021 models. It improves charging speeds to 25W and has a superior Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, better visibility in daylight thanks to Vision Booster technology, and lower blue light emissions (with a ratio of only 6.5%).
In terms of mobile photography, the Galaxy A34 brings optical image stabilization, which should result in higher-quality photos. And for the first time in the history of the Galaxy A, the 2023 model introduces enhanced photo editing tools that allow users to remove unwanted shadows and reflections. The audio also improved, as Samsung claims that the Galaxy A34 can better separate the user's voice from background noise during voice and video calls.
Build quality is higher thanks to an IP67 dust and water-resistance rating. And the Galaxy A34 is now guaranteed to get four major OS upgrades. In contrast, the Galaxy A32 only got two Android OS updates and reached the end of support with Android 13. They will continue to get security patches now and then.
In some ways, Samsung has treated the Galaxy A34 as a high-end phone, and that's quite a pleasant surprise. Is it better than the Galaxy A32 or Galaxy A32 5G? It is in almost every conceivable way. It's not only better, but it will also last longer, thanks to improved firmware support and build quality. It sounds like a worthy upgrade for Galaxy A32 users who are looking for a better device.
