The WhatsApp development team has made a new beta feature available to select users and business customers. It consists of new creative tools for text editing.
Originally spotted in a beta build earlier this month, the new text editor is now available for select beta testers through the 2.23.7.17 beta update distributed via the Google Play Store.
Android gets a head start on iOS
WhatsApp is developing these new tools for both iOS and Android, but as of now, only a small number of WhatsApp beta testers on Android have received invitations to test these new editing tools. (via WABetaInfo) iOS users can't yet participate in this limited testing, but they might be able to join at a later date.
If you have been invited to test this version of WhatsApp beta on your Samsung Galaxy device, here are some of the new text-editing tools you'll have access to:
- New options to align text to the left, center, or right.
- New fonts, including Calistoga, Courier Prime, Damion, Exo 2, and Morning Breeze.
- Tools to change the text background color.
- Easier ways to switch between different fonts by tapping one of the font options above the keyboard.
For now, these beta features are available to a limited number of WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business users on the beta channel, but more testers will gradually get invited to try out these upcoming text editing tools. As to when these features will hit the public WhatsApp build, that information is not yet known.
