It is no mystery that Vivo is working on a new book-like foldable smartphone, the Vivo X Fold 2. Apart from Vivo confirming its existence, the upcoming device has leaked on multiple occasions, giving us an idea about what to expect from it.

Today, for the first time, we get to see official posters of the device, which confirm its specifications, and boy, it seems like the Vivo X Fold 2 will give the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5 a hard time.

Vivo X Fold 2 official marketing material leaks

The latest leak comes from China, and it shows presentation slides of the Vivo X Fold 2, which seem to be made for the launch event of the device.

According to the marketing material, the Vivo X Fold 2 will have an 8.03-inch foldable display with a 2,160 x 1,916 pixels resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, just like the Vivo X Fold. However, what’s different this time is the brightness, which, Vivo claims is 1,800 nits. Even if that’s peak brightness, it's very impressive.  It would be a challenge for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 to beat this number.

The outer display of the Vivo X Fold 2 is a 6.53-inch unit with a 2,520 x 1,080 pixels resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, just like that of its predecessor. But once again, it has higher brightness, 1,600 nits to be precise.

Previous leaks had suggested that the Vivo X Fold 2 will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, and the official marketing material confirms that. It also reveals that the chipset will be mated to LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. Considering that Vivo X Fold 2 will launch months ahead of Galaxy Z Fold 5, it will take the crown for the first foldable with Qualcomm’s latest chipset. However, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 could come with the “For Galaxy” version of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with higher performance, just like the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

120W wired and 50W wireless charging

The last presentation slide reveals that the Vivo X Fold 2 will have a 4,800mAh battery with 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. While the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will most likely feature a larger battery than its predecessor, which would put it in line with Vivo X Fold 2’s battery capacity, we aren’t sure that it can beat Vivo’s upcoming foldable in terms of charging speed (or at least in terms of charging wattage), and that’s because Samsung isn’t a brand that runs behind big numbers. That being said, history is evident that numbers are not everything.

Going by the official specifications, the Vivo X Fold 2 seems to pack a lot of cutting-edge features, and it will certainly give the Galaxy Z Fold 5 a tough fight, especially when it comes to display brightness and charging speed. However, Samsung too will have a couple of tricks up its sleeve, such as the rumored water resistance, better software design, support for S-Pen and more accessories from third-party brands, and of course the phone’s global availability.
