There have been various reports and rumors about Samsung's upcoming “dream” Exynos chip for the Galaxy S25. It is expected to be released in 2025 and is believed to offer much better performance than previous-generation Exynos processors from the company. Now, some interesting bit of information has been revealed about this chip.

According to tipster @Tech_Reve, Samsung and AMD are working together on a new GPU for the Exynos 2500 (tentatively named). It will be based on AMD's Radeon technology as a part of their extended partnership and will focus on improving optimization. While it wasn't explicitly mentioned in the tweet, it is suggested that the two companies will focus on optimization rather than raw performance. How exactly it would fare against rival GPUs in Apple's and Qualcomm's chips remains to be seen, and things would only get clear once the devices reach customers after two years from now.

Galaxy S25's Exynos chip with AMD GPU could focus on optimization rather than raw performance

Previous-generation Exynos chipsets have shown lower performance and poorer power efficiency than their Snapdragon counterparts. And what's worse is that Samsung was using these Exynos chips in its flagship phones in some regions while users in other areas were getting better Snapdragon chips. Hence, the company faced a lot of criticism, so it decided to exclusively use Snapdragon chipsets in the Galaxy S23 and the Galaxy S24.

Some rumors claimed that Samsung MX (smartphone division) created a team of around 1,000 engineers to work on a custom high-end processor for future Galaxy smartphones. However, the company later stated that it plans to work with the Exynos team more closely to create a chip that's more optimized for Galaxy smartphones.
