Samsung has released the April 2023 security update to the Galaxy S21 FE. However, unlike in the past, the update has been released in the US earlier than in other regions. Usually, Samsung's new software updates are first released in South Korea, followed by Europe, Asia, and then the North American region.
What's new with Galaxy S21 FE April 2023 security update?
The latest software update for the carrier-locked version of the Galaxy S21 FE comes with firmware version G990USQS6EWC3. The update is currently available on Metro PCS and T-Mobile's networks in the US, and other carriers could soon release the update on their networks. The April 2023 security patch that's included in this new software fixes 60+ security flaws found in Galaxy smartphones. The update might also include general bug fixes and device stability improvements.
If you have a Galaxy S21 FE's carrier-locked model in the US, you can download the new update by navigating to Settings » Software update on your phone and tapping Download and install. You can also download the newest firmware file, appropriate for your phone's model number, from our firmware database and flash it manually.
Samsung released the Galaxy S21 FE in early 2022 with Android 12 onboard and promised to release four major Android OS updates to the device. As promised, the company released the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update in late 2022. It also recently received the One UI 5.1 update a few weeks ago. Later this year, the phone will get the Android 14-based One UI 6 update.
