Now that the Galaxy S23 launch is done and dusted, Samsung is preparing to launch the next set of high-end Galaxy smartphones: Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5. The two foldable smartphones are expected to launch in August 2023, a timeline similar to their predecessors. The company has also started testing the One UI 5.1 update on those smartphones.
The first One UI 5.1.1 firmware has been found on Samsung's servers, and they are being tested on South Korean versions of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 (SM-F731N) and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 (SM-F946N). The Galaxy Z Flip 5 was found running One UI 5.1.1 with firmware version F946NKSU0AWD5, while the Galaxy Z Fold 5 was found running One UI 5.1.1 with firmware version F731NKSU0AWD5.
One UI 5.1.1 update will be based on Android 13
Both new firmware files with One UI 5.1.1 are based on Android 13. As usual, Samsung might introduce One UI 5.1.1 with its new foldable phones. The software could then be released to existing Galaxy smartphones and tablets a few days after the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5.
There isn't much information about the new features that One UI 5.1.1 would bring. However, we can expect improvements to all the stock apps, improved Galaxy ecosystem features, and enhancements to the Flex Mode.
