We look at Samsung as an electronics brand, and we don’t expect the company to suddenly start selling something that isn’t its forte, such as cars, clothes, or food. But that’s exactly what Samsung has done this time. It has just started selling all kinds of food items in Korea, right on its official website. We never expected to see this day, but here it is.

As a part of the ‘Health Collaboration Project’, Samsung has announced eFood Hall in Korea, a dedicated place on Samsung’s official website for the country where the company is selling as many as 80 ready-to-eat food items. However, Samsung didn’t randomly come up with an idea overnight to sell food. It seems like a carefully planned strategy.

Samsung's food offerings will be carefully curated for Galaxy Watch users

Samsung explains that the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 can measure body composition. Based on those results, users can determine if they need to lose fat, gain protein, or just maintain a healthy diet. Whichever diet plan they decide to follow, Samsung eFood Hall will give them recommendations on macronutrients (carbohydrates, fat, and protein). These recommendations, according to the company, are carefully curated with inputs from Hyundai Green Food.

To make it easier for people to follow that diet plan, Samsung decided to offer its users an option to purchase healthy food items right on its website. The food items that are currently available to purchase on the website include dairy, eggs, meats, fish, rice, ramen, kimchi, fruits, nuts, sauces, beverages, water, side dishes, and meal kits. It is worth mentioning that Samsung doesn't manufacture any of the food items. They come from popular brands in the country.

The company is also offering monthly diet plans through a membership. However, since the webpage is in the Korean language, we couldn’t decode all the nitty-gritty details about it. There are also many discount offers available. Samsung even says that they’ll make this service better in the future by offering users disease-specific diets.
