It seems the competition between foldable flip phones from Samsung and other Android phone makers will boil down to how big the cover display can be, or at least that's what it seems to be boiling down to right now. Everyone is increasing the cover screen size on their foldable flip phones, with Samsung more or less confirmed to be making a massive leap in this area with the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 5.
Battle of the cover displays is heating up
But as far as looks and the cool factor are concerned, it looks like Motorola will take the cake with its next Razr smartphone. Images of the Moto Razr 40 Ultra have leaked online, and we have to say it's made us mighty jealous. The Razr 40 Ultra's cover screen isn't as big as the one expected on the Z Flip 5 (contrary to a recent rumor), but it looks amazing and makes Samsung's folder-style Z Flip 5 cover screen design feel almost ancient in comparison.
Of course, without actually seeing the two phones in the flesh it's hard to come to a final verdict, but let's face it, the renders make it pretty clear that Motorola's cover screen implementation looks considerably better. And while the Razr's cover display has a smaller size, it's not small enough to give Samsung a major advantage.
All that said, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will also turn heads if the rumors and leaks are to be believed. And Samsung's user experience will no doubt continue to be the best of the lot, be it in terms of display and camera quality, software features, updates, and, most of all, performance (the Z Flip 5 has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 ‘For Galaxy' chip, which showed amazing results on the Galaxy S23 series).
