Samsung has announced One UI 5 Watch, the latest version of its One UI software for Galaxy smartwatches. One UI 5 Watch will be packed with the Wear OS 4 update that will release for Wear OS watches later this year, so it will have new features from both Samsung and Google.
According to Samsung, One UI 5 Watch focuses on three main aspects of the user experience: sleep, fitness, and safety. The improvements range from a better understanding of your sleep patterns and expanded fitness features to an upgraded SOS system, though Samsung says that's not all and that it will reveal more details about One UI 5 Watch in the future.
Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 series will get One UI 5 Watch
Which Galaxy smartwatches will get One UI 5 Watch (and Wear OS 4)? Well, the Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, Galaxy Watch 5, and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro will get the update, as these are the only smartwatches from Samsung that run Google's Wear OS.
Naturally, the Galaxy Watch 6 series, which is set to be announced in the second half of the year, can be expected to come with Wear OS 4 and One UI 5 Watch out of the box. If not, Samsung is likely to release the update for the new watches soon after they go on sale.
That's because Wear OS 4 might not be out until September if Google intends to release it exactly a year after Wear OS 3, while the Galaxy Watch 6 series (along with new Samsung foldable phones and tablets) is rumored to launch in late July and will probably be available for purchase sometime in August.
One UI 5 Watch beta testing starts in May
Before its official stable release, One UI 5 Watch will be available for beta testing for Watch 4 and Watch 5 users sometime later this month, although Samsung hasn't revealed a list of countries where beta testing will be possible. But rest assured that we will let you know as soon as we get more details on the One UI 5 Watch update, so don't forget to check back later!
