Years after Google brought live wallpapers to Android, Apple launched a similar feature for iOS. A few years ago, Apple brought a similar feature to macOS with Dynamic Wallpapers. Now, Google is trying to implement a similar feature to its desktop operating system: Chrome OS.

While Apple's Dynamic Wallpaper feature is a bit more simple, changing the colors and hues as per the time of the day, Google is testing something more complex. The latest developer build of ChromeOS has revealed (via 9to5Google) two new dynamic screensavers: Cloud Flow and Earth Flow. Google calls them Dawn To Dark wallpapers. These wallpapers change as per the time of the day and are much more detailed than the ones from Apple.

ChromeOS' dynamic screensavers appear when the Chromebook's screen is locked. These screensavers more detailed animations and changes to colors and shadows, and they appear like timelapse videos. The folks over at 9To5Google had also found a ChromeOS flag for dynamic wallpapers, but the feature hasn't shown up yet.

Since this feature is already being tested in the developer build of ChromeOS, it could soon come to all Chromebooks via the stable channel. And you can soon expect the feature to land on your Samsung Galaxy Chromebook.
