Good news Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 owners! Samsung has officially kicked off the One UI 5 Watch beta program that will allow you to take the update for a spin on your Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, Galaxy Watch 5, or Galaxy Watch 5 Pro smartwatch.
Like One UI beta programs for Galaxy smartphones, you will need to sign up for the One UI 5 Watch beta through the Samsung Members app before you can download the first beta update. If you're interested in joining, open the Samsung Members app and you should see a banner for One UI Watch Beta Program, which can you tap and then follow instructions to enroll.
One UI Watch 5 beta program live in the US and Korea
The beta program is live in both the US and South Korea, the only two countries where Samsung has confirmed it will make the beta available. If you don't see the One UI Watch Beta Program banner, don't worry, just try again later as it seems it's a phased rollout that will take time to go live for everyone.
Once you get enrolled into the beta program, you will be able to download the first beta update by going into the watch's settings in the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone. Again, if the update doesn't show up on the first try, check again later.
The One UI Watch 5 beta update is 1.5+ GB in size, so be sure to use a Wi-Fi connection if you don't want to run out of bandwidth on your mobile data plan. Also make sure your watch is charged to at least 30% as copying the update file to the watch and its installation will take considerable time. While you wait, read about some of the major new features you're getting in One UI Watch 5 here.
Thanks for the tip, Rick!
