However, the update was only released to the unlocked version of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 in the US. Now, the new software update is available to the carrier-locked version of the Galaxy Z Fold 4.
Galaxy Z Fold 4's May 2023 security update fixes over 70 security flaws
The latest software update for the Galaxy Z Fold 4's carrier-locked version comes with firmware version F936USQS2CWD9 in the US. It includes the May 2023 security patch that fixes over 70 security flaws found in Galaxy devices, including a bunch of critical flaws. The update is currently available on Comcast, Metro PCS, T-Mobile, and Xfinity Mobile's networks in the US. Other carriers could release the updates on their networks soon.
If you have a Galaxy Z Fold 4's carrier-locked version in the US, you can now install the new security update on your device. You can do that by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also download the new firmware version from our firmware database and flash it manually.
Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold 4 alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 4 in mid-2022, starring Android 12. Later that year, the company released the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update to the smartphones. A couple of months ago, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 received the Android 13-based One UI 5.1 update.
