A couple of weeks ago, the Galaxy S20 series started getting the May 2023 security update in Latin American countries. Last week, the update was also released to the carrier-locked units in the US. Now, the new security update is available for unlocked Galaxy S20 series units in the US.
Galaxy S20 May 2023 security update: What's new?
The new software update for the unlocked Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra units comes with firmware version G98xU1UES4HWD5 in the US. The update is available on all carrier networks, including AT&T, Bluegrass Cellular Cellular South, Comcast, Cricket, C-Spire, Dish Wireless, Metro PCS, Sprint, Tracfone, T-Mobile, US Cellular, Verizon, and Xfinity Mobile. It brings the May 2023 security patch that fixes over 70 security flaws found in Galaxy phones.
If you own an unlocked Galaxy S20 series phone in the US, you can now check for its latest software update. To do that, head over to Settings » Software update and tap Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually using the Odin tool on a Windows PC.
Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S20 series in early 2020 with Android 10 onboard. The phones in the lineup received the Android 11 update in late 2020 and the Android 12 update in late 2021. The phones received the Android 13 update in late 2022.
